INTRODUCTION
1. General
The Seed Certification On-Line System allows persons engaged in seed industry
activities to send information over the Internet, view records online and make
payments. In the future, additional services and features may be added.
2. Registration & Enrolment
You can register and enrol for the Seed Certification On-Line System on the
Defra website or Government Gateway web pages. If you register and enrol on the
Defra website, the details you provide to enrol for a service will be passed to
the Government Gateway for verification (on behalf of Defra). If successful,
your registration details, including your name and e-mail address (optional),
will be stored securely on the Government Gateway system, in accordance with
the Gateway privacy policy. You can view the Government Gateway privacy policy
on the Gateway web pages at http://www.gateway.gov.uk.
Your e-mail address, if provided, may be used by the Government Gateway to
communicate with you and to forward messages to you in relation to other
Government online services if you choose to enrol for these services.
3. User ID & Password
Your User ID and Password will be held securely on the Government Gateway and
will not be made available to Government Departments. The Government Gateway
uses the postal address registered on the Seed Certification On-Line System to
send you confirmation of your User ID. After the Gateway has sent this
information, your address will be deleted from the Government Gateway.
4. De-enrolment
If you no longer wish to be enrolled for the Seed Certification On-Line System,
you can de-enrol on the Government Gateway web pages at
http://www.gateway.gov.uk or by contacting the PVS Helpdesk.
5. Login
When registered, you can login on the Seed Certification On-Line System using
your User ID and Password (or digital certificate) to access the services. Your
encrypted User ID and Password (or digital certificate) will be passed to the
Government Gateway for authentication.
6. Making an application
An authenticated application form sent over the internet and accepted by
Defra’s systems has the same legal validity and implications as a signed paper
application delivered to Defra Plant Varieties and Seeds Division.

7. Security
You must always keep your User ID and Password (or digital certificate) safe
and secret. You can change your password on the Government Gateway web pages at
http://www.gateway.gov.uk or by contacting the PVS helpdesk. If you
forget your User ID or password, you can request it to be re-sent to you by
contacting the PVS Helpdesk.
8. General
We may revise these terms and conditions as we develop our services. By
accepting these terms and conditions you agree that we may:

withdraw or add services and features or change the way in which you may access
those services without prior notice - although we shall try to give you notice
of any changes.
9. Virus Protection
We make every effort to check and test material at all stages of production. It
is always wise for you to run an anti-virus program on all material downloaded
from the Internet. We cannot accept any responsibility for any loss, disruption
or damage to your data or your computer system which may occur whilst using
material derived from this website.
10. Intellectual property
The names, images and logos identifying Defra, UK online, government
departments, third parties and their information, products and services are
proprietary marks of the Crown and/or third parties.
Copying or use of our logos and/or any other third party logos accessed via this
website is not permitted without prior approval from the relevant copyright
owner.
11. Disclaimer
The Defra government uk website and material relating to Government
information, products and services (or to third party information, products and
services) is provided "as is" without any representation or endorsement made
and without warranty of any kind whether express or implied, including but not
limited to the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a
particular purpose, non-infringement, compatibility, security and accuracy.
12. Applicable Law
The terms and conditions of this agreement will be construed in accordance with
English law and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English
courts.
